Welcome to my very first class reflection! For my EDCI 336: Technology and Innovation in Education Course, we are given three main projects, all of which are to be documented in blog form:
- Free inquiry project: We are to choose a topic of interest or a skill we’d like to learn and develop, create, and document our journey of discovering it. We are meant to pay special attention to the learning process and share what that looks like for each of us on our blog. I’m not sure what topic to choose yet, and I feel overwhelmed by the freedom we are given.
- Educational Technology Presentation: In teams, we are to research and explore educational technologies and report our findings in a video presentation format. I am a little confused about this assignment and what “educational technology” means, but I imagine we will talk more about it in future classes.
- Weekly reflections: That’s this one! To keep track of what we are learning in class and reflect on how our understanding of technology in the education setting grows, we are tasked with writing a weekly reflection on class.
Because we have only had one class so far, I will write about my initial thoughts and expectations for this course.
I have never been accused of being tech-savvy by any measure. In fact, my relationship with technology has always been anxiety-ridden. So this class is intimidating! To be a teacher in today’s world, however, I am aware that technology is something I will have to face daily for the rest of my life. This course will equip me with some of the basic skills that I need to become, at least somewhat, digitally literate. By the end of the semester, I may be able to save a file!
