Ok! My final piece for this inquiry is an on site drawing in an urban environment. I did this while at a friend’s house, and drew what I could see across the street through the window. Because there were no people out at the time I was drawing, I didn’t have to worry about capturing moving models, which made it less intimidating. Maybe I will try drawing people on-site in the future, but for now I felt that drawing from a real-life reference of still life was a challenge enough. There were multiple objects and buildings in this scene, so I was able to practice relative perspective more, but not too much going on that anything got too lost. Here is my very first on-site drawing!

I am surprised by how pleased I am with how this turned out! I have learned so much about drawing and have grown so much more confident in doing this inquiry. By no means do I think my journey with drawing is complete, and I plan to continue to learn through the rest of my life. This was an excellent way to jumpstart that journey! As I’m reflecting on everything I’ve learned from this project, I am reminded of how scary learning new things can be, and how worth it it is to try anyway.

As I continue to draw, to learn about drawing, and to learn about anything, I will try and remember that just because something is intimidating doesn’t mean it isn’t doable.
